Rashee Rice stands out as the trending name tied to the Chiefs’ Week 6 inactive list.
Rice is out with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 4 (ruled out Friday by Andy Reid). The Chiefs elevated practice squad WRs Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson, and both are active. Tyquan Thornton is also out (IR). Reid has sounded optimistic about Rice’s recovery timeline.
Rice (hamstring) has been ruled out after missing all three practices following the bye week. He suffered the injury in the first half of the Week 4 win over the Raiders and did not return.
Head coach Andy Reid confirmed the decision on Friday and has described Rice as a relatively fast healer, with a potential return as early as next week’s game against the Seahawks. With Rice and Tyquan Thornton (IR) both unavailable, the Chiefs elevated practice-squad wide receivers Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson — both are active.
Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, and Cyrus Allen are expected to see expanded roles alongside Travis Kelce and Kenneth Walker III. Other Chiefs inactives include Josh Simmons (back), Jared Wiley, Diego Pounds, Jack Pyburn, Jadon Canady, and emergency QB Garrett Nussmeier. L’Jarius Sneed (knee), who was questionable, is active.
Rice has been limited to 13 catches for 190 yards and 1 touchdown so far this season. His absence (hamstring/knee) removes one of Patrick Mahomes’ primary targets in a divisional matchup.
The Chiefs responded by elevating Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson from the practice squad, both of whom are active.
Projected volume shifts toward Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and Travis Kelce. Josh Simmons (back) is also out, which could affect pass protection. Andy Reid has sounded relatively optimistic about Rice’s recovery timeline, but he will not play today.
Rice has been ruled out with a hamstring injury (also listed with knee involvement) that occurred during the Week 4 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

He did not practice Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday after the bye week. Andy Reid ruled him out on Friday while expressing confidence that Rice is progressing and is a relatively quick healer.
To address the depth issue (Rice + Tyquan Thornton on IR), the Chiefs elevated wide receivers Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson from the practice squad; both are active for Sunday.
Xavier Worthy, second-year receiver Jalen Royals, and rookie Cyrus Allen are in line for increased snaps and targets.
The rest of the Chiefs’ inactive list includes left tackle Josh Simmons (back), tight end Jared Wiley, offensive tackle Diego Pounds, defensive end Jack Pyburn, defensive back Jadon Canady, and emergency third quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, previously listed as questionable with a knee injury, is active.
